Most of this delightful and colorful series was painted en plein air by Susan Abma in Change Islands, NFLD (www.changeislands.ca).

The tiny island community, off the northeastern coast of NFLD, has preserved its history and retains the many stages, stores and homes similar to how they were in the 1950s.

Stages and stores are where fishermen bring in the catch and store their supplies and equipment.

The charm, character, and color of this friendly, quaint community makes it a favorite of the artist and she purchased a home there where she goes about 3-4 months each year to paint and to visit its people who she has come to know and love.

Susan lives in Leduc, Alberta for most of the year when she is not at her home in Newfoundland.

She has painted innumerable paintings there, not forgetting, of course, Leduc

#1, ‘where it oil began.’
